We have formed excellent relationships with material suppliers who are continually innovating to be able to provide materials that are recyclable and biodegradable.
Sustainable materials are becoming more widely available (and also more diverse) meaning the aesthetics of your printing doesn’t have to be compromised in order to be kinder to the planet.
Kirkwood is committed to protecting the environment.
Sustainable digital and offset and wide-format = beautiful print. Making more from less. FSC® and SFI® certified. We can advise you on carbon foot-printing your publications, writing environmental attribution statements and reducing your print volumes.
We always recommend clients choose certified papers from well-managed forests. The criteria for these papers are to conserve biological diversity and ancient woodlands, protect indigenous groups and combat climate change. One day, we hope sustainable paper sources will be mandatory in the print industry.
Transitioning to an electronic job processing system might seem like an unlikely sustainability initiative. But Kirkwood crunched the numbers and found that this small change could save significant volumes of paper and energy. We recently reached 500,000 processed with our Ktrack™ Network, a system that digitizes project information and vendors’ billing files. To date, we have saved 5 million sheets of paper and enough energy to drive a car more than 45,000 miles, as well as increasing invoice processing speed and decreasing errors.
Enel X - DEMAND RESPONSE PROGRAM
Enel X helps hundreds of organizations throughout New England, save on energy costs, and mitigate carbon emissions with demand response. We are audited twice a year (summer/winter), on a given day we are asked to reduce our power load by a certain % for x number of hours.
Common reduction examples include:
> Reduce non-essential lighting
> Modify manufacturing processes
> Adjusting HVAC equipment
